Music, Dance & Rhythm in Kapar.......

Tuesday, 7th September 2010

Today is a proud moment for FRIENDS OF KAPAR - The Kapar Kidz started their very first Dance & Movement Class. This was held at the dancing studio - Dance Point, in Kapar. About 20 children from The CNC took part in this dancing class. Class started at 5:30pm and ended at 7:30pm.

After a short introduction by Jeanie Ng - The Principal of Dance Point, the class was quickly divided into girls & boys. The boys were taught hip hop and the girls were taught belly dancing! Needless to say the girls were quite shy and inhibited but the boys were excited as they delved into the lesson with zest.

Just like any proud parent, I wanted to see my children dancing, until I was "chased: away by the Instructor as my presence was too disruptive! I had a lump in my throat when I saw how excited & happy the children were. For most of them it was a chance of a lifetime to be able to dance and to be taught by professional instructors. It was a dream come true for them.

Thank you for making a difference to StArt Society - Joshua & Rachel for organizing this program. StArt Society has kindly contributed towards these Dance & Movement program. Thank you to Jeanie of Dance Point & her team of dance instructors for their patience & understanding in handling The Kapar Kidz and for the ussage of the studio. We at FRIENDS OF KAPAR are indebted to your kindness & benevolence.

Feeding Kuala Selangor & Tanjung Karang

Tuesday, 31st August 2010

Feeding in Kuala Selangor & Tanjung Karang was held today. Joseph our Contact Pax came to collect the Grocery Bags. There are currently 10 Families being fed. Their location are dispersed widely in these 2 areas. The Families live in estates and their profiles are similar to Folks in Kapar, in fact some of them are in a far worse condition.

It has come to our knowledge of a family with some young children whose parents died at the same time in a motor accident. They now live with their 75 year old grandmother with their elder brother & sister-in-law as breadwinners. These two are merely estate workers and they both have 3 young children themselves.

Joseph have snapped some photos of the Families in Kuala Selangor & Tanjung Karang, which I will post when I have them.

Yo! Check it out....... NEW website!

Thursday, 26th August 2010

FRIENDS OF KAPAR has a spanking NEW website. It was launched on Thursday, 26th August 2010. Please check it out....www.friendsofkapar.com

I was trained as the Administrator on Monday, 30th August 2010 by my "sifu" the young & vivacious Quin. Thank you, Quin for being so patient with me.
However, there are still a few more issues that I need to confer with my "sifu".

Boleh la! (considering that I am a total blur when it comes to computer-savyness). Hence, please be a bit patient as I need some time to add more materials in the website, to make it more substantial.

Thank you so much to the team in MediaCliQ - Mr. Koh, Yen Teng & Quin. You guys are really something! Taking time off your busy schedule just to help FRIENDS OF KAPAR. Love the artwork.

Kapar Kidz on the road to fame.....

Saturday, 28th August 2010

IWCKL North (Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur North), had their 8th Installation Nite. It was a nite steep in tradition as befitting a Club as old as time. On this occassion, Usha - a dear friend was installed as the President. A new committee was also installed along with her.

Just a general info about this Club - The Inner Wheel Club consists of the wives/ spouses of Rotarians. Their activities cover a wide range of charitable activities. Many beneficiaries are recipient of their charitable benevolence. FRIENDS OF KAPAR is just one of it.

It was very, very exciting for me, as The Kapar Kidz were invited to perform as the Opening Gambit for that nite. I was very proud to see 7 children performing a dance for the audience. They did a GOOD job! After the dance they were given dinner and by 9:00pm, they were on their way back to Kapar.
