Sekalung Budi...A Garland of Tribute

Deepavali is but a memory.... to our families in Kapar, Mentakab, Maran, Temerloh, Jerantut, Kuala Krau, Kuala Selangor, Tanjong Karang, Batang Berjuntai, Ijok - this Deepavali is the sweetest & brightest.

Project MADE together with her Sponsors, Donors, Contributors, Supporters, Feeders & Volunteers visited each home bearing loads of goodies for them, just to ensure that they could celebrate Deepavali in a much happier & brighter environment.

We came to each homes bringing chicken, fresh veg, fresh fruits, cakes & dried goods as well.

This would NOT have been possible without our Friends who had supported Project MADE in her mission. Each of these names below had contributed towards the Deepavali Feeding Prog 2011. Without them....this Prog would not have been possible:

Bringing Cheer.....

From Left: Chew, Rajen, Jothy, Tahirah from Powere Root, Val (partly hidden), Hjh. Ainie, Asha, Padma, Joseph. This photo was taken in the earlier part of the Feeding Rounds - note how clean & fresh we looked. Compare this pix with the photo taken at the END of the Feeding Round! (Pix at the bottom of the page).

Mon, 24/10/2011 - 2 days before Deepavali. Project MADE brought a team of feeders consisted of her Sponsors, Donors, Contributors, Supporters & Volunteers into Kuala Selangor, Tanjong Karang, Batang Berjuntai, Ijok to conduct " The Light of Cheer 2011 : Deepavali Feeding Prog with Project MADE".

Some of us left home as early as 6:15am on that day. We met at the 1st meeting point - Setia Alam Toll - at 8am. From there, we drove another hour to Kuala Selangor. We had to wait for stragglers. We finally started on our feeding rounds at 9:30am.

Each family were given - A Fresh Bag & A Dry Bag each. The Fresh Bag consisted of: 1 chicken/ Veg: carrot, cabbage, potato, long beans. The Dry Bag consisted of: 5kg bag of rice, wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, dhall, sardines, condensed milk, instant noodles. Power Root Bhd. contributed a Goodie Bag consisted of Ali Cafe, Ali Tea & Oligo

In performing our work, we had to face harsh environment such as these ferocious dogs. (See above)

Our vehicles had to go through this very harsh & muddy terraine. At the end of the feeding rounds the vehicles looked as if we had been into the jungle! (See pix above).

We had to track through a muddy lane for 10 mins. & in a downpour to get to this family. (Pix above & below)

This man asked us for some money and enquired if we brought toddy in our food parcel!! (See above)

We did not only feed humans. Even monkeys are fed too with a cream bun. (See above)

By evening, black clouds gathered, the sky opened up and it just poured but we carried on....Val gamely covered her head with a bag filled with cream bus! (See above)

In these 2 houses, we delivered to old ladies who were sick and yet had to look after their grand children. (See pix above & below). In the house below. this old lady tied her 2 year old grand daughter with a string - to prevent her from running around!!

Check out the pix below of one of the houses we visited:

Project MADE brought cream buns which Val distributed to the children we met during our feeding rounds. Just look at the delight drawn on their faces when they received the cream buns. ( See pix below):

Flocking into Thagarajah's house in Ladang Kuala Selangor. (See above)

My favourite place - so idyllic.....Ladang Kuala Selangor. (See above)

Crossing an old, rotting & rickety bridge to get to one of the families....(See pix above & below)

Check out the condition of the houses which we visited.....(See pix below)

And the lady who lived in one of the houses......(See below)

The old & young of Kuala Selangor.... (See pix above & below)

The young, sweet, innocent faces of the children whom we visited.....what does the future hold for them?? (See above)

The noble art of giving ....... Project MADE also brought sarong for each of the ladies . (See below)

Our youngest at 4 days old......in the warm embrace of Asha who has taken to her. (See above)

Deepavali will certainly be more cheerful this year for these folks. (See pix above)

We fed the last house at exactly 7pm. We took this pix under the street light as night fell. Compare this pix with one at the top of the page. Note how dirty & oily our clothes & faces look. But we smiled so wide .... satisfied & happy as a clam - knowing that we have done a GREAT job! Note too that the contingent has shrunk in size.

Thank you EVERYONE for making a difference!
