In the true spirit of Xmas “The Light of Cheer 2011 : Xmas Feeding Program @ Orang Asli Village, 16th mile, Gombak” was carried out jointly by both Project MADE & 1Month 1 Charity. We were also joined by Rotary Club Melawati. After a long and detailed planning this was executed as efficiently as possible. A total of 17 families were served.
We brought – for the families: grocery bags, baby milk
powder, pre-loved clothes and toiletries. Cream buns, chocolates, cookies, MILO
drinks and back to school items: school bags, socks, stationery – for the
children. The Orang Asli Folks were also feasted with cooked food prepared by
Hannah.
The Grocery Bags consist of rice – 10kg, sugar -2kg,
oil – 2kg, meehoon – 2pkt, salt, wheat flour, dried maize, dried fish,
sardines, MILO, tea, condensed milk, jam, biscuit, bread loaves.

Many volunteers participated in this program. We
congregated at Mc Donald Outlet, just before the Gombak Toll. After a quick breakfast
and a brief introduction, we drove in a convoy of about 10 cars towards the
village. At the 12th mile Gombak we picked up a few families as well
as our Contact Person Raman Bah Tuin – an Orang Asli activist.
From there we drove for another
6km into the village. When we arrived, there was already a flurry of activities
with some of the Orang Asli Folks eagerly awaiting our arrival. Zaidi – a
seasoned volunteer with Project MADE quickly set up the working perimeters for
the volunteers to comfortably execute their chores

Registration of the families were carried out by the volunteers. The families were systematically registered and their particulars were duly recorded. At the same time the other volunteers busied themselves with the packing of food stufss, toiletries, party packs for the children as well as the back to school items

By 1pm we concluded our activities since the remaining
families from another village failed to turn up! As there were plenty of leftover food – we sent
the food to Ar-Rauddah – an Orphanage at 11th mile Gombak which has
40 poor & underprivileged children. We also gave them 40 school bags +
stationery, (when we found out that they
did not have any school bags yet for the school year 2012). We also gave 50kg
of rice, oil, some grocery items, bread loaves and cream buns
