Project MADE has always wanted to work with the Refugee Community. After a couple of trial & error and active research - we finally found one .... by chance. I was introduced to this School by a friend Mdm. Cristina Martinez - a Spaniard who has been living in KL for the last 1 year. She regularly teaches at the School.
On Tuesday, 4/4/2012 - Project MADE bravely accompanied Mdm. Cristina to the School. No one would have thought that there is a School smack in the Burmese Refugee Colony
When I saw the children - they struck a chord in my heart. Such lovely souls, they were. Project MADE brought rice - 20kg, cooking oil - 10kg, Maggi Mee - 4 cartons, MILO - 10 cartons & the "piece the resistance" - 100 pcs of Cream Buns (N/B CEP : OK - I know what you are about to say next......).
Check out their pix below:

When we arrived, they were working ver hard at their lessons. There are 4 Teachers at the time we came. 2 are expatriates, 1 Burmese & 1 Malaysian. We are not so sure as to how much knowledge is being passed to the children but at least they are kept indoors and away from the influence of the bad hats around that area.
See pix below:

We stayed for Lunch as we wanted to see personally what the children were fed with. What I saw, made me cry....Please look at the pix below and open your heart to the plight of these children.
Above: The Older Girls without being prompted - dishing out food & serving the whole school. In fact they showed such matured responsibility towards the younger ones. No one pushed around to get to their food.....
Above: Rice & a combination of all sorts of vegetables which were collected from the discarded basket of a nearby shop which was bought at a "song". Tried as I could, I could not stomach the grub....sorry! I guess my throat just could not accept the goo...there were bits of chicken which the Cook chopped into miniscule pieces. She proudly informed me that she used only 4 birds to feed 90 children. I was amazed....that day I cried buckets when I saw the Kidz tucking into their food - food which we normally would have binned.......
Above: The older kidz ate their food standing up. The girl (in orange T) is a boarder at the School - her Father had died. There are 25 boarders at the School. out of the 25 - 15 are orphans. I just could not imagine what the future has for them...being orphans in a hostile foreign land. My heart bleeds for them.....
Above: The smaller kidz sitting at a meal. Saying grace before the start of a meal - thanking God for their plate of measly grub....Whilst these Kidz recited their grace, I silently prayed too, "GOD please have mercy & show your LOVE to these poor, poor children, please give me strength to serve them &to make a difference here....."
Above: This good looking young man posed for me whilst patiently waiting for a space to put his plate down.
Above: These 2 boys sat just outside the Kitchen by the drain to enjoy their Lunch quietly away from the din inside the Kitchen
Above: Pastor Jonathan - who runs this Missionary
Above: These 2 girls bashfully posed in the midst of their Lunch. Such beauty & innocence. I hope they do get to their final destination safely.
Whilst waiting for Lunch to be served I sat down with Pastor Jonathan & Grace - chatted about their journey into Malaysia. it was horrible listening to their narration - it reminded me of the transportation of the Jews into Auschwitz in Poland - the famous concentration camp during WW2.
This definitely won't be our LAST visit here......
