Let us stop & ponder.......

This old house is the home for a very old woman in Kg. Api-Api, Kuala Sgor. She lives here alone as her husband has passed on. Her husband died due to excessive drinking. She has a daughter & a son. Unfortunately - her daughter's husband too is sick and dying - due to excessive drinking.

Sometimes, her drunkard son comes back to sleep but most of the time she is on her own. Recently, she was admitted to the hospital for a weakened heart. When we came on Sat, 10/9/2011 to send her the Grocery Bag, she could hardly stand, as she is rather weak after her stint at the hospital.

Her house is NOT liveable. The floors were rotten and infested with termite. There are holes in every inch of the walls & roofs. On a hot day - rays of sunlight could be seen filtering through the many holes. On a rainy day - tiny droplets of water could be felt trickling down creating a rivulets on the termite infested flooring. The staircase could not be trodden upon as its structure is weakened with dry rot.

It pains my heart to see her living in this condition - but to her it is her HOME and where she hopes to die in......

Kuala Sgor Feeding Prog with Northgate Arinso

On Sat, 10/9/2011 - Project MADE carried out its monthly Feeding Prog @ Kuala Sgor. This time - the food packages for the 40 families were fully sponsored by Northgate Arinso Social Club under their company's CSR Program.

Northgate Arinso Social Club was represented by Santhi Rajendran who came with her dad - "Uncle Rajen", Angeline Kaur + 4 year old Nick & her sister, Norizan Mohamed.

They brought with them rice, meehoon, flour, sugar, salt, oil, sardines, dhall, bath soap, toothpaste, sanitary pads, condensed milk, MILO.

We met at 7:30am at the regular rendevous point - Setia Alam Toll. There - we were joined by Madame Jothy & her husband, Mr. Chew - both from SNF (anorther sister NGO) - however they came on their personal capacity.

At 7:45am - a convoy of 4 cars drove to Kuala Sgor. We stopped at IPPD Kuala Sgor for a quick breakfast and a get to know session. Our breakfast of roti canai were sponsored by Madame Jothy....Thank you Jothy for your generosity!

After breakfast we drove to Kg. Yu - our very first feeding area. We were greeted with shouts of glee from the children....they were happy to see us. Their excitement peeked when Jothy generously dished out treats of cream buns, choc bars, packets of biscuits and jellies to the eagerly waiting little hands. Angie & Santhi from Northgate Arinso distributed globs of chockies & toys - respectively - to the children.

The children gave shy & happy grins upon receiving their treats.

At the first house we also gave out some baby items for a very young - 19 year old - heavily pregnant mom. Her baby is due in October. We gave her a baby bath tub, baby clothes, feeding bottles, assortment of baby paraphenelia. She had this huge smile on her face. Thank you Asha for donating ALL those wonerful baby stuffs....

We are but 1.......

Project MADE concluded its very last project for the Ramadhan/ Aidil Fitri Programs on Wed, 17/8/2011, a few days before Hari Raya.

We concluded the Light of Cheer Programs: Ramadhan/ Aidil Fitri - with a simple Majlis Berbuka Puasa with the Rawang Kidz. This function was fully sponsored by Rotary Club Metro KL, helmed by Club President Ooi.

What was most unique about this function was that the RC Members were ALL non - Muslim, but they set aside all indifferences by feeding the Rawang Kidz who are ALL Muslims! The RC members even broke fast with the children and diligently observed all restrictions. To me it was amazing!

The spirit of "oneness" was so openly displayed in its simplicity. There was no pomp & splendour just simple understanding & respect. It gladdened my heart to see such display....The children too displayed their affection by kissing the hands of the adult RC members as they would normally do, without looking at race OR religion.

The children broke their fast with 2 pieces of kuih + sweet dates. Then they were feted with Nasi Tomato + Beef/ Chicken Rendang + iced cold drinks.

At the end of the meal, all the children were given Duit Ray & a piece of bath towel, each.

Check out the delight drawn on the faces of the children on the pix captured bu our Photographer on her magic lenses:
